In Middle School Prep Social Studies, students explore ancient civilizations, including the history of Greece. They learn how the Greek city-states often fought one another, yet set aside their differences to gather in peace for athletic competition at Mount Olympus.
To bring this learning to life, Alexander Montessori School holds an annual Greek Olympics before Spring Break as part of our Language Arts, Physical Education, and Social Studies curriculum. This much-loved school tradition gives students the chance to take part in a variety of events inspired by both the Ancient and modern Olympic Games. From Poetry Oration and Archery to Swimming races and a Marathon, it is a memorable celebration of learning, teamwork, and fun.

Build confidence and a love of language through our annual Spelling Bee, where students in Grades 2–5 come together to showcase their skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Beginning with a written qualifying round, selected students advance to the live Bee, where they demonstrate focus, perseverance, and courage in front of their peers.
More than a competition, the Spelling Bee is a celebration of language, preparation, and personal growth. Students cheer one another on, take pride in their progress, and experience the joy of learning in a meaningful and memorable way.
Winners have the opportunity to advance to the Miami-Dade County Spelling Bee, representing Alexander Montessori School within the wider community.
Students meet weekly to review ideas and feedback submitted through the motion box.
During these meetings, they form committees to help plan and lead a variety of school events, including White Butterflies, the Halloween Carnival, Toys for Tots, Thanksgiving Food Drives, the Turkey Bowl, Greek Olympics, the Spring Carnival, and the 5K Walk. Student-led initiatives held each year also include the Morning News Committee, Spirit Week, and the Window Decorating Contest.

At our private school in Miami, support for families begins before the school day starts and continues after it ends. At each campus, students may arrive during Before School hours, which vary by location, and begin their day under the supervision of Alexander staff. This is a complimentary service offered for family convenience.
After School care is available at the Ludlam Road, Red Road, and Palmetto Bay campuses for an additional fee. This option is reserved for families enrolled in full-day programs.

In this brand new programme you will have the opportunity to watch your child grow their creative confidence as they dive into an enriching art framework exclusively designed by the ILOS team for students and teachers of ISP Artists. This framework will allow students to explore their creativity as they familiarise themselves with different techniques, mediums and themes. Additionally, students will participate in two live-streamed sessions facilitated by experts in the field who will support the students in developing their creative confidence.

ISP Changemakers, formerly known as ISP Futures, provides schools with tools and methodologies for developing projects focused on social impact. This will enable communities to take action to address strategic issues relevant to their group and their future.

Skills: Be able to apply different frameworks and methodologies to create projects with social impact. Raise awareness and take action on environmental issues among ISP staff, students, and school communities in general.

Being a part of this program has helped me in things I didn't imagine it would. Because of ISP, I haven't just learned about the environment and how to be more eco-friendly, but I have also earned new friends (..) It even motivated me to come to school doing this everyday (...) ISP Chess Masters
Programme highlights
ISP Chess Masters grows students’ skills and teamwork by connecting them with other ISP students to play fast chess in online and in-person tournaments in local, regional and global contexts.

I love chess and having the opportunity to get better at it through tournaments is simply amazing. You can share ideas about moves and your style of playing at the same time as playing, you can play with people you don't know and all of that with no material needed, just a computer.

ISP Cultural Exchange
ISP Cultural Exchange encourages reciprocal exchange across regions where ISP schools are located. The aim is to offer students the opportunity to experience a culture different from their own through a homestay and attending another ISP school for a month.

ISP Filmmakers
ISP Filmmakers is a multi-disciplinary project in which students learn the importance of collaboration in achieving the common goal of producing a film, its trailer and poster. It provides insights into career pathways in film and media.

This programme really improves your understanding of filmmaking, planning, scenes shots and will really help you on your application later on for university. It also teaches you to work together on camera shots and editing that for sure will be needed in the future.
