Montessori Teacher Training Institute (MTTI)

The Montessori Teacher Training Institute (MTTI) offers an Early Childhood Teacher Training Course leading to the American Montessori Society credential. As Florida’s first Montessori Teacher Education Program affiliated with the American Montessori Society and accredited by MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education), MTTI prepares future educators through a structured blend of academic study, seminars, examinations, and practicum experience.

Course program

MTTI is designed for aspiring Montessori educators seeking a respected, career-oriented path into teaching. The program is MACTE accredited and affiliated with the American Montessori Society, offering students a strong foundation in Montessori philosophy, child development, and classroom practice. Graduates of the program are teaching in the United States and abroad.

Program structure

The course consists of 360 hours and is organized into three main components:

  • Academic Phase
  • Seminars and Examinations
  • Practicum Phase

This structure gives students both theoretical preparation and applied classroom experience, helping them build confidence as Montessori educators.

Study options

Students can complete the program in the format that best fits their schedule and goals:

  • One-year completion: Academic Phase, Seminars/Exams, and Practicum Phase
  • Academic Phase only: for students who wish to complete coursework first
  • Two-year completion: Academic Phase in year one, followed by Practicum, Seminars, and Exams in year two

This flexibility allows students to choose a pathway that supports their professional and personal commitments.

Study options

Practicum & exams

The practicum is an essential part of the program, giving students the opportunity to apply Montessori principles in a real educational setting. For students following the two-year pathway, examinations are completed during the practicum year. Oral exams take place during that period, and the written philosophy exam is completed after the full practicum phase.

Exams are generally held in the evenings during the academic year, and graduation usually takes place in June.

Montessori approach

The program is rooted in the Montessori belief that education should help individuals become thoughtful, capable, and independent. In line with Alexander Montessori School’s broader philosophy of nurturing curiosity, independence, and a love of learning, MTTI prepares adults to guide children with purpose, care, and confidence.
