Students are supported through a thoughtful approach to academic progress that combines personalized learning with clear, consistent assessment. In our Montessori elementary school in Miami, quarterly STAR Reading and Math Assessments, which are nationally normed and digitally adaptive, help track growth over time and provide teachers with grade-level equivalents and percentile ranks.
This insight allows learning to be tailored to each child’s readiness, helps monitor progress closely, and creates opportunities to extend challenge for advanced learners.

Students build bilingual confidence through a multilingual approach that reflects the strengths of a Spanish immersion school, Miami. Alexander Montessori offers Spanish immersion in the early years, then extends language development through dedicated Spanish instruction and Spanish materials in the classroom as students progress through the Elementary Program.
This approach reflects the school’s diverse community, which includes families representing 23 languages across 6 of the 7 continents. Language development is supported through a combination of immersive experiences, classroom resources, and technology tools such as Flash Academy and iPads, while progress is monitored through STAR Reading Spanish and STAR Early Literacy Spanish. Together, these experiences help students strengthen communication skills, deepen cultural awareness, and grow as confident multilingual learners.
Alexander Montessori Middle School Prep offers students a globally minded learning environment that builds on Montessori foundations while introducing the structure and accountability of a departmentalized program, with each core subject taught by a specialist teacher and assistant.
School's experience is further enriched by signature annual events such as the Science Fair, Student Council Elections, Art Show, Spelling Bee, Robotics Presentation, Middle Ages Fair, Poetry Coffee House, Greek Olympics, and Choral/Cultural Performance.
Learning also extends beyond the classroom through field trips and experiential opportunities, with sample experiences including the Everglades, Marine Lab in the Florida Keys, Grow to Heal at Baptist Hospital’s Garden, and I-Fly. Our students attend various field trips throughout the year, and for our Middle School Prep program, overnight field trips have included St. Augustine and Kennedy Space Center, a trip to the Northeast, and the Florida Keys.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
ESOL program provides focused English language instruction for children with limited English proficiency. Through listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, and writing, the program helps children build communication skills in English while supporting cultural adjustment and success in the classroom. Each child begins with an ESOL assessment and parent conference so support can be tailored to individual needs and closely aligned with daily classroom learning. Offered during the school year and in the summer, ESOL is a valuable on-campus resource that helps children with little or no English background grow with confidence and thrive.
Learning Lab
Designed to strengthen reading development in English, Learning Lab supports both advanced learners and those who benefit from additional guidance, including children whose first language is not English. Led by an experienced Reading Clinician, the program uses specialized reading tools and audio-visual resources to build fluency, reinforce comprehension, and grow confidence through personalized support.

My daughter graduated from Alexander as president of the student council. She started middle school not knowing a single person and she carried that Alexander confidence right through the door with her. I credit this school for who she is today.
Mrs. Tirse, Middle School Prep Teacher & Alexander Parent Alumna
