In this multi-age environment, teachers guide each child according to individual readiness, while developing a joyful love of learning at our Montessori preschool Miami campus.
Building independence through purposeful everyday work
Practical Life activities help preschool children develop independence, coordination, concentration, and a sense of order. Through meaningful hands-on tasks such as pouring, sorting, cleaning, and caring for their environment, children strengthen confidence and learn to take responsibility for themselves and their community.
Refining the senses to understand the world
Sensorial learning helps children explore, classify, and make sense of the world through sight, sound, touch, smell, and movement. Using specialized Montessori materials, preschoolers develop observation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to compare, discriminate, and organize information.
Inspiring rhythm, listening, and joyful expression
Music encourages preschoolers to explore rhythm, melody, movement, and self-expression in a joyful and engaging way. Through singing, listening, and participation, children build confidence, coordination, memory, and a deeper appreciation for sound and pattern in our preschool program.
Creativity, exploration, and confident self-expression
Art gives children the freedom to explore materials, textures, color, and form while expressing their ideas in meaningful ways. These experiences support creativity, fine motor development, concentration, and pride in independent work.
Laying the foundation for communication and literacy
Language development in Preschool builds vocabulary, listening, speaking, pre-reading, and early writing skills through rich conversation and hands-on materials. In the Montessori environment, children are guided naturally toward literacy as they grow in confidence and curiosity.
Making abstract ideas clear through hands-on discovery
Math in the Preschool program begins with concrete Montessori materials that help children understand numbers, quantity, sequence, and operations in a meaningful way. This hands-on approach builds logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation for future mathematical learning.
Encouraging curiosity, observation, and discovery
Science invites preschoolers to ask questions, investigate, and better understand the natural world around them. Through exploration and guided discovery, children develop curiosity, critical thinking, and an early appreciation for how things work.
Expanding understanding of people, places, and the wider world
Cultural Studies help children develop awareness of geography, nature, traditions, and communities beyond their immediate surroundings. These lessons nurture curiosity, respect for diversity, and a growing sense of connection to the world.
Growing with confidence, empathy, and self-control
Social-emotional learning supports children as they build relationships, manage feelings, and develop self-confidence in a caring environment. Through daily classroom life, preschoolers learn empathy, responsibility, cooperation, and the self-discipline that supports both academic and personal growth.
Active learning through movement and exploration
Outdoor time gives preschoolers opportunities to move, explore, and strengthen their physical development in a natural setting. It also supports social interaction, independence, coordination, and joyful discovery beyond the classroom.

In Preschool, young learners build essential life competencies that support success in school and beyond. Rooted in the Montessori method and its emphasis on independence, the program helps children develop concentration, focus, social and communication skills, emotional regulation, responsibility, problem-solving, critical thinking, and an understanding of time, routine, and order at our Montessori preschool Miami campus.
At AMS, these abilities grow through hands-on learning, purposeful routines, and guided choice within the Children’s House environment. Children learn to work independently, interact respectfully with others, manage their emotions, and approach everyday tasks with confidence and care. In this way, the preschool experience nurtures not only early learning, but also the personal habits and character strengths that prepare children for lifelong growth.
Young preschoolers begin their language journey through the Spanish Immersion Program, where Spanish becomes a natural part of the day through conversation, songs, routines, lessons, and hands-on Montessori activities at our Spanish immersion school Miami program.
This meaningful, age-appropriate exposure helps build listening, comprehension, and expressive language skills while fostering confidence in communication. In a diverse school community, it also nurtures cultural awareness, curiosity, adaptability, and respect for others.
As students grow, this strong foundation supports flexible thinking, independence, and the ability to connect with people and perspectives from different backgrounds.

My husband is an alumnus, so choosing Alexander felt like a natural decision for our family. Both of our children are now above grade level in every subject. My five-year-old is reading first-grade books. But more than academics, we've built lifelong friendships here.
