2018-2019 International Day of Peace

September 21st was the International Day of Peace and a perfect time to reflect on the wisdom of the creator of the Montessori Method, Dr. Maria Montessori, who was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize three times in her life. She was an extraordinary woman who contributed greatly to understanding the role of education in a child's life. We are proud to continue her legacy of learning here at Alexander Montessori School.

The United Nations General Assembly declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. Peace Day 2018 celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Alexander Middle School Prep students made their commitment to Peace Day by wearing white and creating original "Peace" art work in Mrs. Kondrat's Art Class. Those original designs, along with Social Studies produced designs, were enjoyed throughout the Ludlam Road Campus.

Alexander Preschoolers held a brief ceremony at the start of their day with several families to acknowledge the day and recognize that we can, in any moment on any day, bring peace to our lives and the lives of others.
