Why Choose AMS

Personal Attention

At Alexander Montessori School, most of our Teachers are provided with Teacher Assistants, relieving them of a lot of routine duties so they can concentrate on teaching and responding to the children’s needs. The school’s unique structure gives children the unusual opportunity to work at their own pace.

Spanish Education and Spanish Immersion Program

Spanish language is important in South Florida. Children with a Spanish heritage who may speak Spanish at home often do not develop appropriate skills in reading and writing the language. Our objective is to develop skills in conversational Spanish and to enhance the reading and writing skills in this language for native and non-native speakers of Spanish. Learn more about our Preschool Spanish Immersion Program.

Computer Education

We start our computer education in our Preschool Division, with special software programs suited to younger children to give them some first-hand experience. In Lower and Middle School Prep, children receive regular instruction in our Computer Lab.

We also have computers in the classrooms where they are used to reinforce academic skills. We have invested heavily in the equipment, software, and instruction, so our children have every opportunity to develop these essential skills.

Extracurricular & Cultural Activities

Music, art, the Greek Olympics, the Art Show, the Carnival, the Science Fair & Rocket Launching, the Spelling Bee, Student Government, Safety Patrol, physical education, intramural sports, holiday activities, and special performances throughout the year provide our children with the opportunity to develop skills, talents, and fulfill themselves outside the academic routine -- or just to have fun. Children find Alexander Montessori School a happy, friendly, and challenging place.

Four Beautiful Environments

The Old Cutler Road Campus has been cited as one of the ideal Preschool facilities in the country. One Toddler House and six Children’s Houses surround a shady courtyard, and each has its own secure outdoor patio. The grounds are green, shady, and spacious, making a lovely place for outside play.

The Red Road Campus occupies an old Spanish-style house in a yard filled with trees and greenery, giving it a unique South Florida charm. Two Children's Houses reside here, along with the school's Administrative Office.

The Ludlam Road Campus, our Elementary location, is nestled on six acres containing shady groves, hammocks, and green playing fields. It is a quiet oasis conducive to a relaxed and safe learning environment.

The Palmetto Bay Campus is located directly across the street from the Palmetto Bay Village Center. This spacious house was built in 1906 and hosts one Toddler House and one Children's House, allowing for learning and play in a beautifully serene, nurturing environment and playground area.

Security

We place the highest priority on the safety and security of our students and Staff. Cameras monitor the grounds at each Campus to complement the security guards posted at each entrance. In addition, ThorGuard, the world’s only lightning prediction system, is installed and in constant operation at every location.

A Record of Achievement

After Alexander, our students typically attend top-notch Miami college preparatory schools such as Palmer-Trinity School, Gulliver Schools, Ransom Everglades School, and Riviera Schools.

An Excellent Alternative to Public Education

No fewer than two U.S. Secretaries of Education have stated that the system of public education is declining in spite of increasing budgets. The private school lives or dies by its performance. Being wealthy is not a prerequisite for a parent choosing a private school.

Many families choose our school for their children and know that our alumni are properly prepared to meet the academic challenges of some of the most academically rigorous middle schools, high schools and colleges.

Invest in your child’s future. Your child will be profoundly affected by the decision you make. This is a gift for a lifetime of learning to love to learn.
