First Grade students practiced rhythm and musical sounds with "boomwhackers" during a Cultural Music lesson.  Music is an integral part of the Montessori curriculum.  The benefits of music lessons include improved non-verbal communication; musical enjoyment and feelings of joy; enhanced math skills, literacy, and overall brain development; and improved academic performance.
