The halls of Alexander Montessori Elementary were transformed into the Kingdom of Alexander as our Fifth Grade students proudly presented their annual Middle Ages Faire, the culminating experience of an engaging Social Studies unit led by Mr. Michael Aupont.

Throughout the year, students immersed themselves in the study of Medieval Europe, exploring the lives, occupations, social classes, customs, and historical events that shaped the Middle Ages. Through research, writing, and hands-on projects, students developed a deep understanding of this fascinating period in history.

At the Faire, students assumed the roles of medieval townspeople, artisans, merchants, nobles, and other historical figures, showcasing handcrafted projects and sharing their knowledge through presentations and demonstrations. Visitors were welcomed by a grand Royal Processional before touring the marketplace, where students confidently explained their crafts, tools, materials, and the historical impact of events such as the Crusades and the Black Plague.

The Middle Ages Faire is a wonderful example of Alexander Montessori’s interdisciplinary approach to learning, combining history, research, writing, public speaking, creativity, and critical thinking. By stepping into the roles of people from the past, students gained a meaningful appreciation for history while developing confidence and communication skills.

Congratulations to our Fifth Grade students for their outstanding work, and thank you to Mr. Aupont for creating such an engaging and memorable learning experience that truly brought history to life.
