Fourth Grader Oakley McCarthy-Arcos's family in Chile discovered a handwritten memoir by Oakley's great great grandmother, Mara Márquez Digoy, which they turned into a book. Vivir Cada Minuto (Live Every Minute) had its launch party in Santiago, Chile last month. Oakley was asked to create an illustration for one chapter of the book. She drew a scene where her great grandmother was on a huge ocean liner traveling from Chile to Europe. She was a little girl at the time and didn't know what to do with her dirty laundry, so she concluded the best thing to do was to throw it out into the open ocean.
