As part of the Language Enrichment Class led by Mrs. Gladys Tirse and Mrs. Anelle Albert, Alexander Montessori 4th and 5th Graders had a “Poetry Coffeehouse” where they recited original works to classmates, friends, and parents.  Inspired by the post-war era, the Beat Generation was a literary movement started by a group of authors whose works explored and influenced American culture.  The 4th and 5th Graders investigated this era and then wrote original free-verse poems in a coffeehouse environment complete with jazz music softly playing in the background.
