6 Podcasts For Children We Think Are Worth Giving a Listen To

With more and more time spent at home, podcasts for children are becoming increasingly popular. From science-backed experiments, to thrilling mysteries meant for tweens, there is a podcast out there for every child in your house.

Here are six podcasts, meant for children that we think are worth listening to:

Wow in the World Podcast – A podcast by NPR made just for kids! Hosted by Guy Raz and Mindy Thomas each episode leads listeners through a conversation about kid-friendly news stories of the week. Episodes begin with a series of questions about a new amazing scientific discovery or finding and are answered in an easy to digest funny manner your children will love. Listen here.

But Why: A Podcast for Curious Kids – We’d be surprised if you haven’t gotten at least one “but why?” in the last week. This is the podcast for the child who needs to know why everything happens. Host Jane Lindholm is ready to foster your child’s curiosity by tackling questions from the mundane, such as “Why do the leaves change color?” to the kind of complicated: “Who invented words?” The topics are crowd-sourced from actual children who can submit questions using the voice note feature on your phone. We’d love to hear what topic your child would like to submit! Listen here.

The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian – In this podcast, children will listen to the fictional tales of an 8-year-old boy living on an interplanetary space station who explores the galaxy and solves mysteries with his friends. There’s over 13 hours of content to keep your child glued to their headphones for this one. Listen here.

Animal Safari - This podcast is full of animal knowledge, along with some weird, wacky and slightly gross facts (the kind children will love). Your children will find out all about the luckiest cat in the world, how sloths go from slackers to superstars and what odd noises cute, fluffy koalas make. This podcast also takes listeners around the globe and slips in cool facts about habitats and the geographical locations where each animal lives. Listen here.

Brains On! – Think of this as the podcast version of Mr. Wizard. This is a science podcast for children, that is hosted by “kid scientists” who keep it exciting and enthusiastic with topics ranging from the origins of language to explaining why we have crushes, and from why we sneeze to why sea turtles live so long. Listen here.

What If The World – Every week a different “What if” question is asked that leads children down a rabbit hold of possibilities. Many topics are silly and giggle inducing like “What if puppies had laser eyes and could fly?” Episodes are thoughtful and funny with special characters and fun voices. Listen here.
