…was held on Wednesday, February 8th, 2012.  Father’s Day comes early each year to Alexander Montessori School.  This year’s celebration, which was held in the Maria Montessori Center, brought out a record number of “Fathers” who enjoyed a special morning breakfast dedicated to them.

Mr. James McGhee II, Headmaster, and Mrs. Beverley A. McGhee, Superintendent, welcomed everyone and proudly announced the recent achievements of our Alexander Alumni.

Great memories were made at this fun-packed event, held on February 3rd, 2012, at the Ludlam Road Campus.  It was a huge success as 100% of the student-made rockets successfully lit up the sky.  Congratulations to Middle School Prep Science Teacher, Jennifer Grant, and her Assistant, Ms. Angie Hughes, for  their hard work and dedication in guiding the children.

Inside the Maria Montessori Center, taste sensations from all over the world were being enjoyed at the International Pot Luck
Supper.  Following dinner, Music Teacher, Gail Jacobs, had everyone up on their feet, “dancing the night away.”  Outside, the lines were long, as people waited to continue the tradition of riding on Headmaster, James McGhee II’s song-filled hayride.  It was truly a night to remember!

Alexander Parents Association.

…at this year’s Alexander Montessori School Spelling Bee, held on Friday, January 13th, 2012.

Ninety-two rounds of  intense and exciting competition ensued between Ilija Wan-Simm and Anna Mistele, before Ilija
Wan-Simm won the Bee by correctly spelling ”salvageable” and then “exfoliate.”  Ilija will go on to proudly represent Alexander at the Miami-Dade County Spelling Bee to be held at Jungle Island on March 6th, 2012.

We congratulate Ilija and Runner-Up, Anna Mistele, as well as all the other spellers for a job w-e-l-l d-o-n-e!

…at Alexander Montessori School’s annual Pet Day, which was held on Friday, January 6th, 2012. A vast array of unique and beloved pets made their presence known as they entertained both students and parents alike at the Ludlam Road Campus.

Ryan Tie-Shue (Alexander Class of 2011):  Earned a 1^st Place Individual Trophy in the 6^th Grade Division of the Middlementary Math Bonanza.  Together, Ryan and Jacob formed a 2-person team (while all other teams had 4 people), for which they earned 1^st Place in the Team Competition, scoring 15 points more than the 2^nd Place Team!

Timmy O’Brien (Alexander Class of 2010):  Earned  7^th Place in the 7^th Grade Division of the Middlementary Math Bonanza.

John Mistele (Alexander Class of 2009):  Earned an “Excellent” Rating at the District 4 Junior Thespians Festival, held at Braddock Senior High School on Saturday, November 5^th, 2011.

Peetie McCook (Alexander Class of 2006):  Earned a “Superior” Rating and Critcs Choice Award for the Duet Acting Category at the Upper School Drama Festival.

Bert Irigoyen (Alexander Class of 2006):  Won his second consecutive Individual State Cross Country Title and was a member of the 2011 State Championship Team.
