Alexander Montessori School announces with great pride and pleasure that the following alumni from the Alexander Class of 2006 have taken multiple Valedictorian/Salutatorian honors among the most competitive school programs in Miami-Dade County. Those high honors go to the 2012 Valedictorian of Ransom Everglades School, Megan Renshaw, the 2012 Valedictorian of Palmer-Trinity School, Andrea Ortiz, and the 2012 Salutatorian of Palmer-Trinity School, Camila Victoriano.

APA Denim & Diamonds Silent Auction/Dinner Dance 2012

A dazzling evening of fabulous dining, dancing, and silent auction items made the perfect combination for an unforgettable evening for all who attended this much-anticipated annual APA fundraising event.

The Maria Montessori Center was transformed into a posh nightclub setting with “wow appeal” to rival anything seen on South Beach. Outstanding food and music made the event the talk of the town!

Alexander Celebrates Earth Day 2012 with Song and Community Service

On April 17^th, 2012, Alexander Montessori School’s Student Council Officers and Class Representatives boarded the “Palmetto Bay Magical Musical Litter Bus” in celebration of Earth Week. Alexander Montessori was chosen to participate in this year’s sing-along community clean-up that was hosted by the Village Mayor, Shelley Stanczyk, and several Council Members. Headmaster James McGhee II provided the guitar and songs for our talented student singers.

Spanish Heritage Festival

OLE!! The Annual Spanish Heritage Festival was celebrated at the Ludlam Road Campus on April 5, 2012. The Lower and Middle School Prep students entertained parents and Faculty with dance, song, music, and an informative virtual tour of Central and South America. The popular event culminated with a fabulous luncheon of Latin delicacies and the exciting sounds of Mariachis. Congratulations to Mrs. Hanna and Ms. Sanson – it was a great success!

A special program, sponsored by ADMMF

(the Andrew Dora McGhee Montessori Foundation) with Guest Speaker, Dr. Steve Hughes, was held on Wednesday, February 15^th, 2012. Dr. Hughes is a pediatric neuropsychologist specializing in brain development. He is Chair of the Association Montessori Internationale Global Research Committee and President of the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology. Two outstanding programs, at two different venues, were presented to Alexander parents and the community-at-large. The morning program, held at the Maria Montessori Center, was “Modern Parenting (Toddler to Teen) Tips, Tricks, and Traps,” and the evening program held at the Miami Airport Doubletree Hotel, was “The Neurological Case for Montessori Education.”

The Ludlam Road Father’s Day Breakfast…

…was held on Wednesday, February 8th, 2012. Father’s Day comes early each year to Alexander Montessori School. This year’s celebration, which was held in the Maria Montessori Center, brought out a record number of “Fathers” who enjoyed a special morning breakfast dedicated to them.

Mr. James McGhee II, Headmaster, and Mrs. Beverley A. McGhee, Superintendent, welcomed everyone and proudly announced the recent achievements of our Alexander Alumni.

Alexander families celebrate a long standing tradition…

at the Annual Rocket Launching, International Pot Luck Supper, Hayride, and Family Dance.

Great memories were made at this fun-packed event, held on February 3rd, 2012, at the Ludlam Road Campus. It was a huge success as 100% of the student-made rockets successfully lit up the sky. Congratulations to Middle School Prep Science Teacher, Jennifer Grant, and her Assistant, Ms. Angie Hughes, for their hard work and dedication in guiding the children.

Inside the Maria Montessori Center, taste sensations from all over the world were being enjoyed at the International Pot Luck
Supper. Following dinner, Music Teacher, Gail Jacobs, had everyone up on their feet, “dancing the night away.” Outside, the lines were long, as people waited to continue the tradition of riding on Headmaster, James McGhee II’s song-filled hayride. It was truly a night to remember!
