Alexander Camp is a family-owned and operated program.  A school that has become a highly respected academic institution, dedicated to providing school and camp programs since 1963, Alexander Montessori School has been serving South Florida families with a great summer camp experience to thousands of children just like yours.  "It's a loving and warm environment that is carried throughout the year, from the school to the summer camp," said Bernard Schoor, who sent both his children to Alexander Montessori School and Alexander Camp from Preschool through 6th Grade.  Our reputation is your assurance that you will feel as though your child is in a home environment away from home.

NOT JUST ANOTHER SUMMER CAMP...

Our focus is to provide a variety of fun challenges for your child, who will try new activities and learn new skills, while having a wonderful time.  Because our Campers are from all over the world, and no two children are alike in personality and talent, we structure the activities geared to the child's age so that we can develop and encourage your child's individuality and natural curiosity to explore and learn.  The Staff includes family members, our own year-round faculty, energetic young college students (some majoring in Education), certified swim instructors, and lifeguards.

AND IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH...

In addition to our invigorating summer camp program, we offer various Academic Labs for children from 6 through 12.  Based on a parent/teacher consulation, the instructor will customize a program that meets your child's specific enrichment and/or remedial needs.

Reading Lab - A lab designed to enhance reading, writing, and language development for English- and non English-speaking students.

Math Lab - A comprehensive program to enhance various math skills using hands-on and academic materials, games, and computer technology.

Spanish Lab - A lab to enhance and develop Spanish-speaking skills.

ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages; a program to develop competency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

For children ages 3 through 6 who attend either Alexander Montessori School or any other Montessori school, we offer Montessori classes in the morning session.

SUMMER TODDLER SESSION

Alexander Camp offers a Summer Toddler Session for children ages 1½-3 who are pre-enrolled in the Fall Session; spaces are limited and reserved for families who intend to keep their children in Alexander Montessori School for the Preschool and Elementary years.

The Summer Toddler Program is a continuation of our year-long session; we do not add field trips, swimming, or otherwise change our schedule because young children thrive on consistency and routine for their sense of security.  Because the full day lasts until 3:30 PM during the summer, afternoon waterplay outdoors may be added if napping schedules permit.

We recommend the Summer Toddler Program for children who are "perfecting" their toileting skills and for children who will not be 3 years of age by June.  We ask that Toddlers new to Alexander Montessori School attend a minimum of 6, but preferably 8, consecutive weeks of the Summer Toddler Session.  This ensures a complete and comfortable transition to School.  Parents of newly enrolled Toddlers will be called by the Teacher to discuss the phase-in period and will be asked to attend a Parent Orientation Meeting.
